Gutter

The gutter is the empty space between comic panels. Despite being blank, it's where the reader's imagination fills in time and motion.

Comics theorist Scott McCloud called the gutter the 'magic' of comics — the place where one panel's moment becomes the next panel's consequence. Wide white gutters feel light and modern; thin or borderless gutters feel intense. Vintage comic books used consistent black-bordered panels with white gutters, a look QuickComic preserves.
